ITMA Asia + CITME 2018
TEXTILE INDUSTRY IN CHINA WITNESSES
YET ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL MEGA EVENT
T
he sixth edition of ITMA
Asia + CITME 2018 ended
successfully after five days of
exciting product demonstrations and
business networking in Shanghai,
China. Pre-dominantly, it was a show
for the textile industry and rightly
so as China is the textile hub of
the world.
The five-day exhibition witnessed
machinery displayed largely in the
spinning sector, while machinery
for finishing and dyeing, knitting,
weaving and non-wovens also
got significant space. The total
exhibition area at ITMA ASIA +
CITME 2018 was approximately
around 1,80,000 square metres and
spanned seven halls. A total of 1,733
exhibitors from 28 countries and
regions demonstrated their latest
technological products that focused
on automation and sustainable
production.
As China’s textile industry
continues its transformation, the

has pushed the technology suppliers
to showcase their innovative
offerings in the country. The major
exhibitors who showed up at the
event were Shima Seiki, Rieter,
Karl Mayer, Groz-Beckert, STOLL,
Staubli, Mayer & Cie, Monforts,
IMA, Thies, Jeanologia and
Santex. All technology providers
demonstrated their potential with
the latest innovations to capitalise
on the opportunities in the lucrative
textile market of China. As per the
exhibitors, the exhibition was quite
productive in terms of ‘quality’
visitation.
Betty Chou, Vice General Manager,
Richpeace commented, “We
displayed a part of our whole new
automatic quilting line here this time
which is new for the industry. We
have got some leads which are surely
going to be fruitful for us.”
Out of the overseas participants,
visitors from India topped the list,
reflecting the massive opportunities
for textile technology suppliers in the
country. Following closely were trade
visitors from Japan, China Taiwan,
Korea and Bangladesh.
Fritz P. Mayer, President of
CEMATEX, commented, “There was
a larger pool of qualified buyers and
most of our exhibitors were able to
achieve their business objectives.
We are delighted with the positive
outcome from our latest event.”

Following the successful staging
of the 2018 edition, the next ITMA
ASIA + CITME will be held in
October 2020 at the National
Exhibition and Convention Centre
(NECC) in Shanghai.
