56TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The 56th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association was held on
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Member Office at 901, Naman Midtowm
‘A’ Wing, Behind Kamgar Keeda Kendra, Senapati Bapat Marg, Prabhadevi
(West), Mumbai 400 013.
Mr Rahul Mehta, President, Presided over the Meeting. The General Body
unanimously confirmed the Minutes of the 55th Annual General Meeting,
held on September 25, 2018. The General Body also adopted the Annual
Report of the Association along with the Audited Statement of Accounts,
Balance Sheet, and the Auditor’s Report for the Year that ended on March
31, 2019.
Members unanimously accepted the Recommendation of the Managing
Committee to Appoint M/s M G Ved & Co as Statutory Auditors of the
Association for the Year 2019–20.
Speaking on the issue of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities)
Act, Rahul Mehta informed the Committee that a meeting with Smriti Irani,
Minister of Textiles and Ram Vilas Paswan, Cabinet Minister of Consumer
Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, to discuss the Act at length, is on
the cards.
Rahul Mehta also informed the Members about the informal National
Council for Textile and Clothing (NCTC), which is made up of all the major
Trade Bodies and Export Promotion Councils, to put forward the views and
problems of the Textile Industry as a whole, along with discussing possible
solutions. The Committee was set up after meeting the Textile Minister and
Minister of Finance Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
The AGM was concluded by the collective decision of Members to
prioritise and solve pressing issues.
