presented with a Ganesha idol, to the Hon’ble
Minister in the presence of other dignitaries.
In a conversation later on, Mr Biyani said, “I think
the NGFs make it easier for retailers to connect
with brands. This helps the industry become more
efficient. As per initial statistics, participation has
increased by almost 20 per cent as compared to
the previous year. That is quite encouraging.”
Visitors started pouring in on Day Two, while
exhibitors geared up to showcase their products,
conduct bookings and interact with buyers.
Apparel spoke to several other participants to
gauge their views on the Fair and industry at large.
Mitul Faria, Zgert, said, “NGFs have enabled
us to interact with a wide range of customers,
distributors and agents. While the set-up of this
Fair, is much more cinched than the July edition,
we are predominantly here to present our brand in
the best way possible. This helps us garner a lot of
sales.”
Narayan Ravariya, Urban Friends, voiced his
thoughts saying, “Although we are not seeing
much innovation in the market as of now, we have
regular clients who visit us from all over India
at the NGF.”
Dharmendra Shah, Trendy Girls, expressed,
“We have attended about 11–12 of CMAI’s
exhibitions. It helps us bring about effective
coordination between suppliers and
customers. I appreciate that any complaints
and issues relating to the organisation of the
Fair are immediately sorted out and resolved
too.”
Akash Nandu, L’amour, declared, “It’s been
two years since our association with CMAI’s
NGFs. January fairs are usually slower but we
have done good business till now.”
The 70th NGF concluded on January 30,
with much fanfare from the Stakeholders of
the Apparel Industry. The resilient spirit of the
exhibitors and buyers was quite noticeable.
This economic downturn which has been
plaguing the Industry for a while however,
did not dampen the spirits at the Fair. In fact,
Members are now waiting with bated breath
for the 71st National Garment Fair.
