We have a sent a Communication on June 22, 2019, to the Secretary, (Textiles), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, regarding CMAI’s Participation in the SAMARTH Scheme. We have sent a Brief Note on the Suggestions made by our President, Mr Rahul Mehta, at the Interactive Session with Stakeholders held at Udyog Bhavan, New Delhi, on June 27, 2019 to the Ministry of Textiles, on June 28, 2019. We have sent a Communication to the Secretary (Textiles), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, on June 29, 2019, Nominating Members from CMAI to be on the Technical Committee that will be Constituted for the ‘INDIASize Project’. Subsequent to the Meeting with the Leading Industry Associations convened by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on July 1, 2019, the Association has submitted a Detailed Note of the Impact and Implications on Import of Ready-made Garments from Bangladesh, on July 8, 2019 to the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon’ble Minister of Women, Child Development and Textiles, Secretary (Textiles ) and Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles. The Association has sent a Note on the TURQUALITY Scheme to the Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles on July 24, 2019 recommending that this Scheme should be used on a Conceptual basis to evolve our own unique Scheme appropriate to the needs of the Industry. The Association has also submitted its reply to the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 5501 for July 26, 2019 to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, on July 23, 2019. The Association has submitted a Representation to Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, on July 30, 2019, humbly requesting that Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) for Garments and Made-ups be continued with the existing Rate of four per cent until such time as the alternate WTO Compliance Scheme is formulated and Implemented. 56 I APPAREL I July 26, 2019 Cir. No. W-5/8/19 sent to all Members in Maharashtra by E-mail requesting them to Submit Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. As per Section Four of the Act, it is mandatory for all workplaces having 10 or more Employees to constitute a Committee under the Act for each of the Offices separately and to frame a Policy under the Act. July 27, 2019 Cir. No. 09/19 sent to all Members of the Association by E-mail requesting all Members of the Trade to Sign the Petition to be submitted to the Government of India requesting that MEIS for Garments (HS Code 61 and 62) and Made-Ups (HS Code 63) should be continued till the alternative scheme is formulated and implemented.
