FOR THOSE SEEKING ETHNIC TREASURES
More than 70 pieces spanning bridal couture and occasion
and festive wear herald the coming-together of technique,
craftsmanship, and innovation for Tarun Tahiliani’s
most recent collection, ‘Bloom’—lightweight lehengas,
shararas, peplum blouses, concept saris, structured
drapes, anarkalis, and fusion-style jumpsuits—exude
pure celebration. Contemporary occasion wear for those
intimate pre-weddings plays with chikankari and mukaish
embroideries and Kanjeevaram silks in light, new avatars
for the stylish bride. When it comes to couture, contoured
construction, patterns, and unique fabrics merge to make
the garments feel like second skin, sensually moulded to
shape every curve, and yet, allow the freedom and comfort
to dance the night away.
“Bloom captures the metamorphosis of the Indian
bride with a synthesis of different cultures, a reflection of
today’s generation. The collection represents the delicate
confluence of artistic traditions and pragmatism of the
times we live in. And of course, flowers,” says Tahiliani.
Bloom features a mixed palette of soft pastels such as
peach, dusty rose, blush pink, coral, teal, vintage gold,
and aqua, as well as electric blue, deep violet, and plum.
Diverse embroidery styles—from Kashmir-inspired kashida
and jamavar—combined with floral motifs, French knots,
tulle, jali, lace, and ombré beading bring forth glamour and
exquisiteness to each piece. In addition, fluffs of whimsical
resham along with sparkling Swarovski crystals adorn
customised crinolines for each lehenga.
