TRAVEL and TOURISM
Tourism is an important contributor to our economy. Travelers’ dollars are directly circulated back into the communities where they are spent. In addition, tax dollars coming from outside of our communities or state lower our residents tax burden.
Tourism is the 3rd largest retail sales industry in Minnesota accounting for 17 % of state sales tax and 250,000 jobs or 11 % of the state total private sector employment. Over 43 million people visit the state annually spending $ 13 billion- more than $ 35 million a day!
