As a growing city, Lakeville has issued the most new single-family home permits in the Twin Cities in 2013, 2014, 2015 and in 2016 through September according to the Builders Association of the Twin Cities. Additionally, Lakeville has one of the lowest city tax rates in Dakota County.
The City has issued permits for 279 single family homes through September with a total valuation of $ 86,693,000. This compares to 262 single family home permits through September of 2015 with a total valuation of $ 82,594,000. The City also issued permits for 59 townhome units through September 2016 with a total valuation of $ 12,936,000. This compares to 30 townhome permits issued through September of 2015 with a total valuation of $ 6,571,000.

The City has issued building permits with a total valuation of $ 178,014,879 through September 2016. This compares to a total valuation of $ 151,791,118 for building permits issued through September of 2015.
