IN DEMAND CONSTRUCTION JOBS
MetroNorth
Construction
The construction industry
includes maintenance,
repair and improvements.
Construction differs from
manufacturing in that
manufacturing typically
involves mass production
of similar items without
a designated purchaser,
while construction
typically takes place on
location for a known
client. Construction
starts with planning,
design, and financing;
it continues until the
project is built and ready
for use. The careers in
the construction industry
range from architects to
carpenters and everything
in between. Employees are
in high demand with high
starting wages.

CONSTRUCTION LABORERS
Perform physical tasks on a construction
worksite.
This career is seeing high growth
compared to other careers and is in very
high demand.
There will be a need for about 19,384 new
Construction Laborers to meet market
demand between 2016-2026. This includes
the demand due to replacement (workers
leaving the occupation or retiring) as well as
growth.
Employment of construction laborers is
projected to grow 12% from 2016 to 2026,
faster than the average for all occupations.
Laborers work in all fields of construction,
and demand for laborers should mirror
the level of overall construction activity.
Repairing and replacing the nation’s
infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and
water lines, may result in steady demand for
laborers.
Although employment growth of specific
types of helpers is expected to vary, overall
demand for helpers is expected to be driven
by the construction of homes, schools, office
buildings, factories, and power plants.

One of my favorite things about the
people at DBS is seeing individual’s
growth. We have so much opportunity
here, and we currently have a lot of
younger employees. It’s exciting to see
everyone learn new things and become
more confident.
