Let’s Talk Tonnage. The Port of Duluth-Superior handles 35 million short tons of cargo, on average, every shipping season. Nearly 60% is Minnesota-mined iron ore. Shipments of ore along with limestone, coal, grain, salt, cement and project cargoes make us the largest tonnage port on the Great Lakes. The Port and the Iron Range have been linked since the first shipment of ore nearly 130 years ago. Together, iron mining and shipping have a huge impact on the economic vitality of our industrial heartland. 218.727.8525 | duluthport.com 42 | Iron Mining Association of Minnesota
