The 21st annual Funspiel kicked off IMA’s 2019 events with 118 curlers at the Hibbing Curling Club in Hibbing. Forty-five others joined for lunch, and the event raised $3,200 and two boxes of food to donate to the Hibbing and Virginia Salvation Armies and the Chisholm Food Shelf. We look forward to seeing you in 2020 for the 22nd annual Funspiel in Eveleth! The IMA participated in a panel with Dr. Peter Navarro, the President’s trade advisor, and explained the position of the industry as talks continue. proposing 100% carbon free by 2050. The IMA government affairs committee did it's best to work with interested parties to find a resolution to this proposed change to state law. Unfortunately, there wasn't a definitive solution to the Governor's proposal, and it will remain a top priority in the upcoming legislative cycle. MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE The IMA capped off 2018 with its annual meeting and dinner on December 5 at Greysolon Ballroom in Duluth, MN. Consistent with past events, the annual dinner started with the IMA board opening its meeting to the full membership – 136 attended – to hear a review of the previous year and outlook for 2018. Dinner was attended by 212 members Immediately following the Funspiel, the IMA packed up for the SME Northeast MN Trade Show in Duluth, MN. The event was another wonderful opportunity to network and visit with members all over the region. Thank you to the IMA members in attendance for putting our IMA signs in their booths!
