Every contractor has felt the pressure to keep traffic moving or finish one more repair before the day is over. That’ s when it’ s tempting to speed up the heating process. Unfortunately, asphalt doesn’ t work on our schedule. If the repair area isn’ t heated evenly and deep enough, the existing asphalt can’ t properly blend with the new material. On the other hand, applying too much heat can damage the asphalt binder, making the repaired area more brittle over time.
