Do you ever find that you get to the end of the day, and you wonder how you got there? Of course, we all do. In most cases it’ s because we are doing the same thing every day and don’ t think about it. In fact, we’ re pretty good at what we do, right? When we get into this mindset, especially at this point in the season, small things suffer. One of my favorite authors suggests in“ The Principle of the Path” that“ your directions, not your intentions determine your destination. The path trumps your intentions every time. Every choice you make is a path and your path leads to your destination.” Let’ s take some time to discuss this thought. No matter what we do, we choose to succeed. Nobody starts a job saying“ Today, we are going to be mediocre.” But sometimes, our outcome is, in fact, mediocre. The problem lies in the details that are between start and finish, the simple things that we take for granted; proper rolling techniques, poor luting and lackluster cleanup. Let’ s talk about some of those simple things that many contractors take for granted.
