Materials Checks.

and have him seek remedial measures. For your costing
part, recognize that asphalt with open/rough profile may
require additional sealer to fill the voids, especially with
squeegee application.
Equipment Checks. Make sure that your equipment is in
good working condition. Start the season with a clean tank;
check the agitation, pump, gauges, compressors, hoses, spray
tips, meaning the whole nine yards. More rigorous checks are
warranted if you have material left over in your tank from
last year; sealer could have settled in the bottom or dried on
inside walls or have fallen in chunks into the sealer. Put the
spray wand through the top of the tank run in open mode
minimum 15 minutes, to check for any clogs in the lines. The
material in the tank shall be uniform, hoses clear and machine
ready to spray.
• Sealcoating in your holding tanks and application rigs.
Make absolutely sure that the materials that you stored
over the winter months are still in good condition, mean-
ing that they meet all the original quality standards, as
supplied by your manufacturer. If you notice any prob-
lem, seek your suppliers help.
• Additives, traffic marking paints, cold pour crack fillers,
and other water-based products. Make sure that they are
still in good condition, i.e. no hardening, settling, watery
separation. Cottage cheese chunkiness in may indicate
freezing damage.
