How to Get the Most from Your New Paver

T he purchase of a new asphalt paver can be an exciting time for owners and operators. We anticipate the increased productivity that the new machine delivers, as well as the new features that will make your day easier and improve the job quality we leave behind for our customers. After all, we look forward most to getting the job done and walking away from that machine and getting home to our families. A new piece of equipment can offer this, but there are a few things that can improve the transition and your success over the course of its service life. Let’ s not jump immediately into the mix with our new paver but take a more measured approach to guarantee we get these benefits for years to come without interruption. Operation: We should begin by reviewing the operations manual, switch or button locations, and paver functions with our crew. What is the engine’ s work rpm? What is different on this paver than our last paver? How is the screed currently set up and how do we make the necessary job site adjustments? Where are all fluid fills and how are the levels checked? All of these things are easier to learn and experiment with when there is no asphalt sitting in front of us. This is also a great time to build a rapport between your crew and the folks from your dealer who will be supporting you through this machine’ s life.
