Honor Guard
Though the pandemic changed how we honored our fallen officers , we could not let their sacrifices be forgotten in 2020 . What would normally be an in-person memorial at our Heroes Park was recorded and shared virtually .
The APD Honor Guard continued to remember and honor our fallen ,
including recognizing the 10-year anniversary of the loss of Motorcycle Officer Craig G . Story and Patrol Officer Jillian M . Smith .
Our Honor Guard presented the colors at our Annual Awards Ceremony , Classes 57 and 58 Academy Graduations , a Dallas Cowboys game , a virtual 9-11 ceremony at Levitt
Pavilion broadcast by the City , and attended funerals for fallen officers of other agencies .
The entire department suffered a loss in July with the unexpected passing of Officer Carl “ Brandon ” Evans who was a patrol officer and a bugler in the Honor Guard . He is sorely missed .
