The Traffic Section consists of a Motorcycle Unit , Commercial Vehicle Enforcement , DWI Enforcement , freeway traffic enforcement , and fatality and serious injury crash investigators . The unit assists with special events that require escorts , traffic control and management , and extra personnel for certain events such as parades .
DWI No Refusal Weekends in the past were specific holiday weekends . We now recognize every weekend as a no refusal weekend . A phlebotomist position has been created and given a special room in the jail to obtain blood samples as part of a DWI arrest investigation . This saves an immense amount of time that our officers used to spend in an Emergency Room waiting for staff to assist us in taking a blood sample .
We continue to monitor road rage incidents in our city and have recently deployed a subdued graphic police car that is less recognizable on the highway . Officers use this car in hot spot areas looking for aggressive drivers . The public can still assist us by reporting dangerous drivers to our Road Rage Hotline at 817-459-5389 .
