In 2020 , the department responded to 33 fatality crashes resulting in the deaths of 34 people . The department ’ s Traffic Unit , as well as uniformed patrol officers , are responsible for the detection and enforcement of traffic laws to ensure Arlington ’ s roadways are safe . The chart on the left highlights the various elements of the crashes . Citizens are encouraged to report incidents of road rage , aggressive driving , and impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1 . Officers routinely respond to in-progress incidents in an attempt to intercept dangerous drivers in the community .
