Volunteers
The volunteers that assist
the City of Arlington’s Police
Department are not only a vital
component to operations, but also
are friends to multiple sworn and
non-sworn personnel. The volunteers
assist in a variety of ways including
manning skywatch towers, praying
over officers, assisting in the jail, and
many other appointed duties.
Volunteers save the city
thousands of dollars annually by
performing these tasks that a
paid employee would normally
take on. Our volunteers are an
important piece of the Arlington
Police Department’s ecosystem.
We appreciate all of them and their
continued efforts in assisting us.
We have additional volunteer
programs that many of our
volunteers participate in. The Citizen
on Patrol program allows citizens
to patrol their community, allowing
citizens to become the eyes and ears
of the department. This program
enables residents to monitor crime
in their own neighborhood, be
proactive, and build bonds with
officers, sergeants, and other police
personnel. The volunteers not only
support operations, but they are also
supported.
