Training Center and Recruiting The Training Center is the entry point for new officers as they begin their careers. Recruits undergo rigorous academic and physical conditioning to prepare them for field training. Upon successful completion of the academy, officers are assigned to a field training officer to receive additional instruction on departmental policies and practical experience. Training Center staff assisted with the training and rollout of an upgraded electronic management system to track force, pursuits and other administrative processes. Personnel also developed robust training plans and curriculum on hate crimes, officer- involved shootings, suicide prevention and employee wellness, in addition to the regular in-service course schedule for employees. The Force and Tactics Unit is tasked with reviewing all use of force reports and preparing tactical bulletins to reinforce training standards and best practices.
