SWAT Team
The SWAT Team is comprised of a
fully functional and dedicated team of
officers and supervisors, supplemented
by other officers where SWAT is a
collateral duty assignment. Of the 59
officers assigned, the unit is supervised
by a lieutenant and two sergeants.
Collateral teams are each supervised
by a sergeant and make up two
additional entry teams, a sniper team
and a negotiator team.

In 2019, the unit conducted 43
narcotic search warrants and 15 vice
operations. Personnel also conducted
17 warrants for other investigative
units, assisted in the apprehension
of 6 fugitives and responded to 4
barricaded persons calls.
Officers in SWAT also serve the
department as subject matter experts,
providing training on numerous
topics to veteran officers and those
in the academy, including firearms,
building searches and critical incident
management. Unit personnel provided
3,652 hours of academy instruction.
SWAT participates in community
events throughout the city to educate
the public on tactics and equipment
that the team utilizes. Many of these
events include school functions,
community forums, concerts, and other
venues.
