responses to hate crimes and
incidents. Officers also attended
a mandatory 8-hour training
course on hate crimes during the
current 2019 training cycle. This
has positioned the department
to enhance responses and for
reporting of these incidents and
crimes which cause significant
community harm.
The department has also
chaired the IACP Human and
Civil Rights Committee in
the past which advocates for
better relationships between
communities and police, and
legislation that protects all citizens
from acts based upon hate.
