IACP Civil Rights Award The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) selected the Arlington Police Department as the recipient of the prestigious Leadership in Human and Civil Rights Award during the 126 th Annual Conference and Exposition. Police Chief Will Johnson formally accepted the award on behalf of the entire department in October. The IACP Leadership in Human and Civil Rights Award recognizes agencies that have demonstrated 14 | 2019 Annual Report leadership in protecting fundamental rights. This award showcases the achievements of agencies in protecting and promoting human and civil rights to enhance public trust and maintain cooperation and partnerships with communities. “This award represents the exceptional work to provide procedural justice and equal protection under the law to our community every single day,” said Police Chief Will Johnson. “I am honored to lead this progressive agency that is always striving to do things better and expand our partnerships throughout the city.” The Arlington Police Department enhanced its hate crime reporting protocols and hosted specialized training programs for prosecutors, officers and civilian investigators
