Last year, the unit oversaw an
upgrade of the department’s Records
Management System (RMS) that
included additional features for the
end users. RMS affords officers the
ability to enter reports and manage
cases.
The unit oversees the electronic
citation system, technical aspects of
the website, and internal computer
systems. The department has 234
mobile data computers installed in
the field. As the City of Arlington
transitioned website vendors, the
unit assisted in the production on
technical webpages and redesign of
department pages.
A new design of the homicide and
crime search pages was completed.
Citizens can search citywide or drill
down to the neighborhood level
on publicly available crime reports.
One of the most widely accessed
webpages is the Police Activity log
that contains delayed active calls
for service that are deemed publicly
releasable.
The unit oversees many other
technical services that assist the
department in operations. Unit
personnel are comprised of a manager
and six employees.
