Homeland Security and
Special Events Unit
The Homeland Security and
Special Events Unit conducts
scheduling of staff at large events
and venues within the Entertainment
District. The unit also reviews permits
for special events and assists with
neighborhood integrity operations
surrounding stadium events.
In 2018, the unit staffed 38 events
at AT&T Stadium, including football
games, concerts, and rodeos. Unit
personnel staffed 89 events at Globe
Life Park. Texas Live! opened in the
latter part of 2018 and requires law
enforcement staffing during key events.
The unit provided staffing for 17
run events including a full marathon
and half marathon. The unit also
participated in three parades
including July 4 th , Veterans Day and
Holiday of Lights. Enchant Christmas
was staffed for 35 nights during the
holiday season.
The Convention Center added
an E-sports stadium to the list of
events that are regularly housed at
the facility. The Special Events Unit
works closely with event organizers
to ensure adequate law enforcement
staffing during large-scale events.
During sporting events at AT&T
Stadium, the unit assigns officers
to neighborhood integrity to assist
with quality of life concerns that can
manifest themselves when people
disregard parking regulations and
other ordinances and laws. Officers
proactively look for violations to
ensure residents are able to access
their streets and homes.
