Mounted Unit
The Mounted Unit is comprised
of five officers and one sergeant
who perform the role as an ancillary
assignment. Members volunteer the
use of their own horses that meet
the department’s requirements. Unit
personnel train bimonthly to hone
their skill sets.
In 2018, the unit participated in 45
events consisting of parades, youth
events, public outreach forums, and

other community events. The Mounted
Unit hosted their first Mounted Patrol
School in September which featured
18 different horses and riders from
four police agencies.
The unit is a huge hit with kids and
adults at various functions throughout
the city. Officers wear specialized
uniforms with a western theme
consisting of boots and a cowboy hat
that facilitates horseback riding.
