In October 2018,
command staff met to
discuss the Community
Policing Story and how it
aligns with the department’s
strategic plan. As the
department refreshes organizational
goals and objectives, each member of
the command staff examined their areas
of responsibility and how they could
integrate the components and themes
of this video into their operations.
Continuing to elevate the public’s trust is
a departmental priority. Through various
programs, initiatives and relationships,
the department offers a wide array of
ways to engage in public trust-building
activities. Procedural Justice is an
organizing principle that officers and
staff are taught from the beginning of
their career. The video is available for
public screenings not only in Arlington
but also across the country. The
department has published the video with
Spanish and Vietnamese subtitles and
shown the presentation to the Citizens
Police Academy’s Alumni and Hispanic
Citizens Police Academy. There are also
plans to expand the screenings to other
community forums in 2019.
