Tarrant County Crime Stoppers Program received the 1 st Place
Productivity Award for Greatest Dollar Amount Recovered and Most Cases
Cleared in counties over 1 million. Arlington Police Department is the lead
agency in the program. In 2018, there were 707 tips received which led to
95 arrests and 177 criminal cases cleared. A total of $152,090 of property
and drugs were recovered which led to the issuance of $25,475 in rewards
paid out.
Last summer, a UT-Arlington student was kidnapped, robbed and sexually
assaulted at gunpoint by an unknown suspect. Within approximately
24 hours, the Sex Crimes Unit had the suspect identified and made
an arrest. The weapon was also recovered and the suspect gave a full
confession.
