Arlington Police Volunteers Made a
Positive Impact on Crime in 2018
Volunteering is a way for people to help make a difference in their
community, but also leave a legacy for future generations. The Arlington
Police Department has a large volunteer force of 295 members that are
making that difference.
This was another banner year for police volunteers across the city.
According to Sergeant Vince Pewitt of the Community Support Division,
volunteers logged 33,181 hours in 2018, which was an increase of nearly
4,000 hours from 2017. They worked in partnership with the Arlington
Police Department and contributed to safety in their neighborhoods in
many different ways.
“We have an outstanding volunteer force here at Arlington PD, and
I am constantly amazed at how hard they work and the dedication they
have to not only the community but also to the department,” said Pewitt.
From Citizens on Patrol Mobile, to the deployment of skywatch
towers and issuing burglary of motor vehicle report cards, the volunteers
across the city provided an extra set of eyes and ears to help keep their
community safe. Their hard work did not go unnoticed as over a dozen
volunteers were honored at the Arlington PD Volunteer All-Star Awards
Luncheon. The volunteer force at the Arlington PD continues to grow
each year and volunteering is a way for everyone to help the community
around them.
