Top Recognition CVE Officer Cody Towns was recognized during the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Enforcement challenge in Corpus Christi. He placed 2 nd in an inspection category, 3 rd in another segment and 9 th overall. APD Youth Explorers took 1 st place in three of the four events held during a competition in Mansfield. The team won the Accident Investigation, Bomb Scene Search, and Burglary in Progress categories. The Victim Services Unit created a new initiative to offer Traumatic Grief Support groups to victims of crime. Members meet weekly for an eight- week period. These sessions have been instrumental in assisting grieving citizens when they experience tragedy and lose a loved one. Crime Analyst Katrina Hickman was honored by the International Association of Crime Analysts for winning 3 rd place in the Tactical Crime Bulletin Category in the Analytical Products Contest. Washington Redskins player Ty Nsekhe was on hand during a summer football camp to interact and mentor with student athletes. Police officers were able to capitalize and answer questions and teach them more about the law enforcement profession. Ty is a Bowie High school graduate. 16 Annual Report 2017
