thousands of students. By the time a high school student graduates from the Arlington Independent School District, they will have heard Officer Brown’s presentation at least once. The training includes handson instruction in addition to the classroom component. Students get to wear the drunk goggles while performing field sobriety tests and also trying to operate a pedal car without striking cones. A DWI simulator is also used to demonstrate to teens the dangers associated with impaired driving. Officer Brown served as the keynote speaker at this year’s MADD North Texas’ National Day of Remembrance. She gave her personal story of losing her sister and the reason why she became a police officer. “I take pride in being able to find a drunk driver before they get into that crash because that’s not something I could of done for my sister.
