as a finalist for the 2015 IACP
Cisco Community Policing
Award. The department
demonstrated the importance and
effectiveness of the community
policing philosophy in building
partnerships, solving community
problems, and keeping cities safe.
The department won first place in
the 2015 Annual Report Design
Contest
sponsored
by the
International
Association
of Law
Enforcement
Planners.
The department received third place from the National Association
of Town Watch in cities with a population of more than 300,000 for
efforts and participation related to National Night Out.
The department’s military reintegration program was selected as one
of 30 finalists for the 2015 Secretary of Defense Employer Support
Freedom Award. Military personnel that return to the department after
deployment are reintegrated back into the community and operational
aspects of the organization.
The Texas Police Chiefs
Association presented
the department with the
2015 Innovation Award.
This award recognized the
department’s pioneering use
of unmanned aircraft systems
and social media innovation.
The department earned the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement
