The Media Office hosted the IACP
Mid-Year Public Information
Officers Conference in June
of 2015. PIO’s from around the
country converged onto Arlington
to hear from world-renowned
speakers on media and public
relations topics.
Lt. Christopher Cook was elected
to chair the International
Association of Chiefs of Police
(IACP) – Public Information
Officers Section with a term to
expire in October 2017.
During September 2015,
the department hosted the
International Association of
Law Enforcement Planners
Conference with representatives
from police agencies across the
U.S. and Canada.
SWAT Officers Charles Crawford
and Ryan Eastlick presented at
the International Breachers
Symposium in Mississippi in
regards to a case study on an
operation handled in Arlington.
Officer Zhivonni McDonnell and
Community Relations Coordinator
Cheryel Carpenter were elected
to positions on the North Texas
Public Information Officers
Group. Cheryel was elected to
serve as Vice-Chair and Zhivonni
was elected to a board position.

National Information Officers
Association Conference in
Clearwater Beach, Florida.
Police Chief Will Johnson was
appointed to a second term to
the International Association
of Chiefs of Police (IACP)
– Civil Rights Committee.
During the annual conference
held in Chicago, Chief Johnson
was also appointed to the IACP
Executive Board.
