Shield A Badge with a Prayer celebrates 25 years
A national program that started in Arlington with three local police
officers and their parents reached a milestone this year with the 25th
anniversary of “Shield a Badge with a Prayer.” The three sons of Peter
and Bernadette Henz are all still police officers – one in Arlington and
two in Fort Worth. The parents would pray daily for their sons’ safety and
eventually the program was expanded to include other officers across
the nation and Canada.

heartfelt reunion was captured by
local media and put a big smile on
the victim’s face.
ACAPP, Crime Prevention Unit help special needs man with
basketball dreams
Crime Prevention Officers Kim Fretwell and Maria Kuehling learned
that a basketball goal had been stolen from the home of a young
man with special needs. They shared that information with the
Arlington Clergy and Police Partnership (ACAPP), who decided to
forgo their annual Christmas party and instead use that money to
purchase a new goal for Orey Green-Jalar. He was ecstatic about
the gift. The donation and Orey’s tears of joy were captured on
video and shared with local media.
