DICK HILL
In recognition of his service, the Arlington City Council proclaimed
imagine. He averages 1,500 citizen contacts per year through traffic stops. Because of his kind nature and excellent communication skills, Cpl. Hill receives many commendations and very few complaints from citizens. Throughout his APD career, Cpl. Hill has had the opportunity to provide escorts to rockstars and U. S. Presidents, has twice led home plate to the new home of the Texas Rangers, and has served as the Grand Marshal for the Arlington Independence Day Parade. Not one to bask in his accolades, he says among his proudest achievements is becoming a Corporal( a training officer) and helping to develop APD officers.
September 8, 2024 as“ Corporal Dick Hill Day” in the City of Arlington. That same afternoon, the Rangers invited Cpl. Hill to throw out a ceremonial first pitch to his son, Arlington Firefighter Cody Hill, ahead of their game.
Cpl. Hill says it was never his life’ s intention to become a police officer, nor did he ever think he’ d be one for this long. But he thought it sounded like an interesting job back when he first applied with APD – and says it’ s remained both interesting and fulfilling ever since. When asked if he had any words to share with the public, he smiled and said,“ Always wear your seatbelt and watch for those school zones.” Congratulations Cpl. Hill on 50 years!
