time investigations and data analysis, while technical investigators oversee both overt and covert camera systems. This blend of personnel allows the RTCC to provide unparalleled support to field officers and criminal investigations.
The RTCC utilizes an extensive network of tools, including automated license plate readers( ALPR) and video management systems, to track and analyze criminal activity. These tools proved essential in solving a tragic murder in December 2023. With limited initial evidence, Detectives from the RTCC diligently analyzed over 8,000 ALPR images and hours of surveillance footage. Through meticulous investigation, detectives identified key details, including a nearly imperceptible tire mark and an out-of-state registration sticker on the suspect’ s vehicle. This breakthrough reduced a pool of 8,000 potential
vehicles to just 18, ultimately leading to the suspect’ s identification and arrest for Capital Murder.
The RTCC’ s success lies in its ability to combine cutting-edge technology with the expertise and dedication of its personnel. Detectives at the RTCC excel at identifying critical details in vast datasets, redirecting stalled investigations, and uncovering leads that might otherwise go unnoticed. Their tireless efforts have repeatedly turned cold cases into successful prosecutions.
Whether responding to active incidents or supporting long-term investigations, the Arlington Police Department’ s Real Time Crime Center remains at the forefront of modern policing, delivering justice and safety to the Arlington community through innovation, precision, and relentless dedication.
