Unit traveled to Seattle for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game where they gained
Capital One All-Star Village, a massive fan fest spanning from Choctaw Stadium to Esports Stadium Arlington, welcomed tens of thousands of fans each day for multiple days. The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates the weeklong event generated $ 86 million for the local economy.
The Arlington PD Event Management Unit led the charge, working with MLB, the Texas Rangers, the Arlington Fire Department, and other city departments for more than a year to develop robust operational and safety plans for All-Star Week. Early in the process, members of the Event Management
valuable insight on the scope of the event and the unique security considerations it presented.
During All-Star Week, APD officers braved hot conditions and worked tirelessly throughout the Entertainment District to ensure that attendees, players, and dignitaries had a fun, safe time during the festivities.
The city received overwhelmingly positive feedback for their preparation and execution, including from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred who sent a letter praising APD and the City of Arlington for“ rising to the occasion to make this undertaking a great success.”
