JANUARY
The Human Exploitation and Trafficking( HEAT) Unit attended an event at the State Capitol where they participated in a symbolic pouring of blue sand into the sidewalk cracks representing Texas’ antitrafficking efforts.
FEBRUARY
The International Association of Chiefs of Police( IACP) paid a visit to the Arlington Police Department’ s North Station. During their visit, members had the opportunity to tour the facility and meet with law enforcement.
MARCH
Deputy Chief Tracie Baker, Lt. Ja’ Nae McGee, Lt. Courtney White, and Officers Liz Doung and Yasmin Hernandez spoke at University of Texas Arlington( UTA)’ s Criminology and Criminal Justice’ s Women in Policing Panel.
APRIL
The Arlington Police Department came together outside the Ott Cribbs Public Safety Center to view the solar eclipse. Officers and professional staff joined the event, equipped with special eclipse glasses.
MAY
A student from Jones Academy took charge and was Chief for a Day at the Arlington Police Department. During the day, she inspected patrol cars and learned about community safety.
JUNE
Officer Merritt and Officer Kemp visited Encompass Health( Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington), to share some quick and helpful self-defense tips with the amazing staff and employees.
