SHOWCASE : WORLD SERIES

On November 1 , 2023 , an Arlington dream more than 50 years in the making was finally realized . The Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 to win their first ever World Series title !
Arlington successfully hosted six sellout games during the team ’ s Postseason run , thanks in large part to the planning , preparation , and professionalism of the Arlington Police Department , their partner agencies , and fellow city departments .
The Rangers ’ victory also meant that Arlington would , for the first time in city history , host a Championship Parade . APD ’ s Event Management Unit led that effort and worked with the Rangers and other city departments to map the route , develop a security plan , and staff the event .
Less than 48 hours after the series clinching pitch was thrown , an estimated 500,000 – 750,000 people packed the streets of the Entertainment District to watch the parade and celebrate this historic milestone .
Despite the quick turnaround , the unprecedented crowd size , and the challenges that planning an event of that magnitude presents , the parade went off without a hitch ! Hundreds of Arlington , Fort Worth , Grand Prairie , Tarrant County Sheriff ’ s Office , and Texas DPS officers lined the parade route to ensure the safety of participants and spectators . Fewer than 15 arrests were made . Traffic was successfully directed in and out of the city in an efficient manner . And most importantly , everyone who attended reported having a great time !
To cap it all off , the Rangers brought the Commissioner ’ s Trophy to APD headquarters so APD employees who worked tirelessly to make the 2023 season a success could take a moment to share in the celebration . Here ’ s hoping for another great season in 2024 !
