MAYOR ' S MESSAGE
I am proud to present the Arlington Police Department ’ s 2022 Annual Report . The dedicated , selfless service of our men and women in blue continues to amaze me and I am grateful for their efforts to keep our community safe .
As you will see in this Report , we have a lot to be proud of .
Overall crime in Arlington was down more than three percent in 2022 . The City Council and I approved a budget that allowed the department to expand their Behavioral Health Unit , which has been a tremendous asset to the city . Our officers continue to make community engagement a priority . I was extremely pleased that Arlington once again finished in the Top 2 nationally for participation in National Night Out . The department implemented multiple recommendations made by the Unity Council , including the creation of a Public Safety Assessment Council that gives community members an opportunity to provide input on policing , and the hiring of a full-time Chaplain .
While we still face many challenges as a community , I remain extraordinarily confident in the Arlington Police Department and the services they provide .
