Is there an expression you ’ ve written that stirred a particular emotion within you ?
There is a line that really resonates with me : “ Lespri inspire , lanatir expire , sakenn pran enn letan respire ”. I ’ ve written an entire manifesto about it on my page set against a musical backdrop , in the context of Covid , where I drew a parallel between a mother and Planet Earth – a little nod at how we fondly call Earth “ Mama later ” in Creole .
Is there an expression you ’ ve written that always brings a smile to your face ?
“ Profite riye pandan ki to ena ledan ”. It serves as a gentle reminder to seize the moment and cherish life as time swiftly passes by .
Is there a theme that particularly inspires you ?
Friendship …! My friends have been a huge source of inspiration for my writing , pushing me to convey messages that I wish I ’ d read or heard a long time ago . “ Konn swazir to bann kamwad … ena kapav amenn twa dan fon trou , ena kapav amenn twa lor some montagn ” or even “ Enn kalot sinser ena plis valer ki enn kares tronper ”.
If you could share a message with the world , what would it be ?
“ Kot mo sorti , grander leker kont plis ki groser saler ”. I think that ’ s what a true blue Mauritian would want to share with the rest of the world .
What superpower ( s ) do you wish words had in real life ?
To have the power to shift hearts and change minds .
