Cardinal Group | Open Door Project
The Open Door Project is a
philanthropic effort , from Denver based Cardinal Group Management , that helps re-open doors of opportunity to those that have had them closed . We seek out individuals who have had obstacles in life that make their paths more challenging , yet still want to help lift those up around them . By re-opening doors of opportunity to these individuals we believe that not only will their lives be transformed , but the community around them will as well .
The Open Door Project also allows residents with the opportunity to give genuine support in the midst of a difficult time and feel like their apartment isn ’ t just 4 walls , but that it has a purpose . In partnership with our clients and residents we have been able to donate an average of 3 % of one month ’ s rent for each lease to the Open Door Project .

In 2019 we had the opportunity to meet Shae , an 11th grader who had been through more than any kid her age should ever have to endure . From being homeless , to taking care of her younger siblings and still finding a way to make sure everyone made it to school each week , we were truly inspired when we heard her story . We were able to follow her journey and share this with our residents through our website www . yourdooropened . com , as well as eblasts and other marketing materials . Our residents were compelled by her situation and helped us grant Shae a $ 25,000 scholarship to achieve her goal of being the first in her family to go to college .
As 2020 has presented many challenges and affected countless people , we saw an additional need to leverage the Open Door Project more than ever . Cardinal Group and it ’ s partners were able to donate $ 5,000 to the DirectRelief Organization , a humanitarian aid organization active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries , with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies .
