AAMD functions should never be used for recruitment, but there’ s good news
We get it. It’ s tough out there right now. It’ s tough to find and retain good talent. Recruiting has become a science, an art, and without a doubt- a priority, and in some cases a realm of desperation to find a great employee fast!
The Apartment Association does it’ s best to offer quality educational and networking events for the purpose of enhancing the careers of our members’ team so they are properly equipped to grow the business.
AAMD functions are not designed for recruitment. Though it has happened before and will likely happen again, members recruiting talent from other member companies is unprofessional, unethical, bad for your company’ s reputation and not in alignment with the spirit of what AAMD membership is about.
Most importantly, it does nothing for the good of a growing industry, as it demotivates companies from developing their talent, knowing they could easily be recruited away at an AAMD event.
While we get it, and desperate times call for desperate measures, AAMD has no interest in imposing any formal guidelines, we simply would like our Members to respect each other and not look at each other’ s employees as prospects.
Instead, we have significantly prioritized and invested in a New Talent Initiative to bring in those who are not currently or perhaps wouldn’ t likely consider the industry for their career. In the past few months, we’ ve begun to really see this investment pay off.
Last year saw AAMD’ s launch of it’ s new, redesigned Career Center at www. ProApartments. com, and in the past few months we’ ve added new aspects to the site designed to promote the industry as a viable career to job seekers.
The initiative has also included a massive media advertising investment including over 30,000 television and internet commercial spots and a newly designed apprenticeship program for maintenance professionals through the Emily Griffith Technical College. You can read much more about these initiatives on page 13.
Since launching the media campaign in mid- March, the Career Center has seen substantial growth and increased exposure including a 164 % increase in job seeker signups and more than double the job views!
At one of the open houses we hosted last month, a candidate noted that he saw our commercial on TV during the NCAA Championship
“ Since launching the media campaign in mid- March, the Career Center has seen substantial growth and increased exposure including a 164 % increase in job seeker signups and more than double the job views.”
Game, went directly to ProApartments. com, saw that we were hosting open houses and found the one closest to him to attend. That same day, he registered on the site, posted his resume, and applied for positions.
So while AAMD is investing so much to bring in new talent to our industry, we ask that you utilize our site and be a part of these intiatives instead of using AAMD events to find your next team- out of respect for the Association and your fellow AAMD members.
