AAMD Represents Industry on 9News
T
he Apartment Association of Metro Denver, once
again, teamed up with 9 News to offer answers to
questions and offer their expertise to the renting
community. Renae Jones and four managers from
AMLI Residential joined the Apartment Association and
volunteered their time to take calls and answer questions
from landlords and tenants alike. As the Denver metro area
continues to lead the country in new renters, this valuable
service seeks to limit landlord / tenant disputes and foster
discussion among the community.
Questions ranged from tenants asking about marijuana
policy, to landlords inquiring about the ways to attract good
tenants. The volunteers answered questions and dispensed
advice to guide first-time renters and seasoned landlords alike.
In addition to volunteers taking questions, AAMD Executive Committee member Cary Bruteig from Apartment
Appraisers and Consultants, provided an on-air interview
with 9 News’ Gary Shapiro where they discussed frequently
asked questions and the state of Colorado’s rental market.
“Although rents are high right now, relief is on the way” Said
Bruteig. With demand for apartments at an all-time high,
rents were destined to rise. However, according to Bruteig,
as supply is added to the market, tenants should expect to
see stabilized rents.

When asked if he had advice for new renters, Bruteig
stressed the importance of reading and understanding your
lease. This is critical in making sure you understand you and
your landlord’s, responsibility. Understanding your lease and
maintaining frequent contact with your landlord will help to
prevent disputes with your landlord.
Renters were also reminded that the Apartment Association maintains a “Renter’s Rights guide” (in English and
Spanish) on their website to answer questions and inform
potential renters. For landlords wishing to continue their
education or become more involved in the community,
