Featured apartments giving back Part 2 See what impact some of our members have made over the last years. Legacy Partners believes in supporting the community in multiple ways. Our staff are provided 8-hours a year in paid volunteer hours. We also have been an active participant for more than 10+years in Spring Clean, an AAMD sponsored annual workday supporting Family Homestead. Employees help lower operating costs for their transitional housing program by assisting with clean-up, painting and repairs to apartments. Additionally, with the support of Adams county, Legacy Partners provides community guidance to youth exiting or aging out of the foster care program. Legacy staff teach life skills and basic apartment knowledge such as how to shut off water and the inner workings of an apartment in outreach workshops. We are proud of our dedicated Griffis Residential team that has partnered with two organizations that give back to our Denver community. Extreme Community Makeover is an organization that works with volunteers throughout Denver to improve homes and neighborhoods. They cultivate community among residents, neighborhoods and networks of local resources. Urban Peak is dedicated to short-term and long-term solutions for teenagers facing homelessness and the various accompanying hardships. This year we gathered together on multiple occasions to cook a healthy meal to serve to the youth as well as fill their pantry. Through our GR Gives initiative, we offer every Associate 8 hours of volunteer time every year to help at non-profits such as these. We are currently working to start an independent Public Charity that will combine financial assistance, in-kind donation, volunteerism, and expertise in construction and capital projects to help those less fortunate in our communities. 20 | TRENDS FEBRUARY 2019 Grand Peaks believes in giving back to the community. We have a task force that votes on the charities we support with causes our teams want to have an impact on like American Cancer Society, PetAid, and Operation Gratitude. To support our communities and our team’s passion to serve, we provide up to 8 hours of paid time off each year to employees who volunteer. Each property promotes their own charity by decorating their offices and announcing the event to the residents. They also try to involve the residents to raise awareness of the cause and allow the residents the opportunity to help support the charity and give back. Our most memorable partnership was in November 2017 when TAVA team members volunteered at Denver’s Ronald McDonald House to cook and serve lunch for the families and patients who were staying there while receiving treatments. During a tour of the facility, we learned the House was in need of some help to replace old, broken toilets with newly donated ones. Without being asked, our maintenance team jumped at the opportunity to provide further assistance and arranged a third volunteer day to get the work done at no cost to the shelter. Through its FAMLI Volunteer program, AMLI Residential proudly supports various local non-profits. Most recently, 73 AMLI employees packaged 11,640 lbs of food at Food Bank of the Rockies – that’s enough to feed 9,144 families or 36,576 individuals! AMLI residents and employees also collected 311 warm coats for Coats For Colorado last October. Making a difference by protecting our environment is a high priority for AMLI too. AMLI employees supported the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation by sweeping and painting curbs, relocating mulch, and cleaning up trash at Congress Park. Giving back is a mainstay of AMLI’s culture, and AMLI’s employees and residents take great pride in supporting their local community. “We hope to make a difference in the communities we live, work and play in.” –Andy Mutz, Senior Vice President, AMLI - Denver Development www.aamdhq.org
