En 2019, Rebecca cofonde FoodWise, une entreprise sociale engagée contre le gaspillage alimentaire. L’ initiative a un impact concret: en redistribuant les surplus aux élèves, FoodWise contribue à réduire l’ absentéisme et à lutter contre l’ échec scolaire. Portée par sa passion pour l’ éducation, Rebecca se met alors à rêver d’ un cadre scolaire différent pour les jeunes Mauriciens. Six ans après FoodWise, elle lance LearnWise. Sa première école, HEI, inspirée du modèle finlandais, a récemment ouvert ses portes.
Comment être un bon leader? Rebecca répond avec humilité, malgré un parcours déjà riche: « Avoir une vision définie, ne pas avoir peur du travail, et s’ entourer de personnes qui excellent dans leur domaine ». Elle souligne aussi l’ importance de la dimension humaine: « être à l’ écoute de ses équipes, et veiller à ce que les ambitions de chacun soient alignées avec les objectifs de l’ entreprise. »
Aujourd’ hui, Rebecca a trouvé sa voie: « Prendre soin de nos enfants, les voir grandir et s’ épanouir au sein d’ un cadre pédagogique fondé sur la recherche, mais aussi ancré dans la nature et la culture mauricienne … C’ est, à mes yeux, l’ outil le plus puissant que nous ayons pour transformer la société ».

Rebecca Espitalier-Noël grew up between two worlds – her mother actively engaged in social work and her father an entrepreneur.“ My heart was torn between the two,” she confides. In social entrepreneurship, she finally found her balance.
In 2019, Rebecca co-founded FoodWise, a social enterprise committed to fighting food waste. Redistributing surplus food to students, the initiative has made a real impact: FoodWise helps reduce absenteeism and combat academic failure. A passion for education provided the impetus for Rebecca’ s new dream – a different school environment for young Mauritians. Six years into FoodWise’ s success, she launched LearnWise. Her first school, HEI, inspired by the Finnish model, has recently opened its doors.

How to become a good leader? Rebecca is humble in her response, despite her impressive career.“ Ensure you have a clear vision, don’ t be afraid of hard work, and surround yourself with people who excel in their field.” She also underlines the importance of the human element:“ Really listen to your teams and be sure that the ambitions of everyone involved are in alignment with the company’ s objectives.”
Today, Rebecca has found her calling:“ Looking after our children, watching them grow and flourish in an educational environment that is based on research, but is also rooted in Mauritian nature and culture... This, in my view, is the most powerful tool we have to transform society.”
