What do “Halloween” series villain Michael Myers and “Star Trek” star William Shatner have in common? They share the same face! The mask worn by Myers is actually a Captain Kirk mask spray painted white. The first “Halloween” movie was on such a tight budget that production designer Tommy Lee Wallace bought the cheapest mask he could find (the Shatner mask was $1.98). This bit of trivia is more funny than creepy, but you’ll likely never look at “Star Trek” the same way again.
Halloween Movie Review:
Michael Myers: The Life of an Anti-Social
After seven films and twenty-four years, former actor and musician Rob Zombie has resurrected the origin of America's favorite slasher--Michael Myers. This film offers a great look into as to why Michael Myers is the way he is, as well as providing deep examples of extreme personalities.
With a lazy bum of a step-dad and a mother who keeps her job as an exotic dancer just to put food on the table and a sister who cared more about her boyfriend them him, MIchael Myers had a pretty bad childhood. He was even put on watch by Dr. Sameul Loomis, a psychologist for the criminally insane, after they found dead rats and cats in his locker at school.
One Halloween evening, Michael snapped, murdering his drunk step-dad, older sister and her boyfriend, keeping the baby of the family alive, while the mother was away at work. He was then put into a psychiatric ward to keep other safe.
This movie is a thrill from the beginning to end. He escapes the ward in search of his baby sister, which is the entire landscape of the film. There are many people in his way and he must get rid of them so that nothing stands between him and his sister.
The film has great chase scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat until they end, and sometimes that can be for a while. Rob Zombie also manages to provide clever makeup to develop the scenes as somewhat of a tableu, marking Myers' path to find his sister.
Even more than that, the scares that come from both the makeup and the clever use of music, anticipation, and jumps give the movie the thrills and scares that make you look behind you when walking home in the dark.
Now what about his personality? Could someone actually be capable of performing such heinous acts in the real world? Let's take a look.
