Editorial The Year Book of our Association continues to be a collection piece. Despite the advance of digital media, social networks and instant videos, a well bound book, with good photos and the content which we are presenting you with today, is still a library treasure. The reader sets the pace; reading allows us to pause; think and go back on some text, time after time. It is no digital whirlwind; it has the depth of a backwater that feeds us so that we can continue along the flow of our daily work. In this new Year Book we will find an interview with Adolfo Cambiaso at the height of his career as a polo-player and as a breeder. With the maturity and generosity of a father who watches his children flourish at a sport which he embellishes. The story of Polito Ulloa’s first steps; his vocation and passion for breaking-in horses and learning, to the point of contagion, is also to be found here, in these pages. And there are articles about the behavior of horses; progress regarding genetic stud- ies; old and modern advice on how to care for polo ponies; discussions as to taming and other material which is food for the breeder. These are days of genetic revolution: embryos; clones; genomics. But it is also a time to feel a horse from its back; of a tamer and groom’s sensitivity; a time in which craftsmanship is worth more than ever before. It is a time of contradictions, which make it all richer but also more demanding for the breeder. Now is a time in which, in order to navigate the waters of a time of change, one must be more educated; more instructed. For this purpose we are providing you with this material and with all the courses, conferences and exhibitions that we organize during the year. This is the reason why we reward the best horses in tournaments with prizes: so that the breeder may be guided in his task and be able to dream and progress. We hope you appreciate this Year Book and that you place it on your book-shelves as you do every year. The Board of Directors. 206
