Polo Tiro Fijo, (Polo Montonera and Polo Sol Puro);
Polo Montonera was dam, among others, of Polo
Catastrofe, (Pepe’s best mare for many years in
the Triple Crown), and one of the best ever bred by
Alberto Pedro Heguy. And Polo Sol Puro, sire, among
others, of Vasca Harrods—Best Polo Argentino mare
of the 2016 Open, and now being played in the Triple
Crown by JM Nero—as well as of 50 other crack
horses that play the best polo in the world.
Polo Tiro Fijo (Awards):
• RGCM (Reserve Male Grand Champion) at
the 2006 Palermo Exhibition;
• RGCM at the 2007 Tortugas Exhibition;
• Best PA horse of the CAIH (Argentine
Championship of the Interior with Handicap)
final in Tucumán (18 goals);
• Triple Crown player for Chapaleufú II under
Nachi Heguy during 3 seasons between 2007
and 2009 until he was injured and set aside.
To date he has sired over 80 PA horses that
played low, medium and high-goal polo for
Argentina, the UK and the USA.
From that year to this day, I have visited la Pampa
at least twice a year, becoming friendly also with
APH’s sons…“what a luxury and how much I owe
AP Heguy and his family…”
Alberto Pedro Heguy taught me that you build based
on example, and for 10 years we took genetics up
North.
In those days embryos were already creating quite
a stir and for us small breeders, who were starting
from scratch, it opened a door that would otherwise
have been impossible to open: we started purchasing
fillies and dams that were daughters of mares that
had played the Open, or maternal bloodlines that had
made a name for themselves.
When we made a purchase, we would pool together
with several breeders and would divide the dams–
always following Santiago’s advice.
We knew that we were buying much more than a
mare or a stallion; we were starting to breed with
genetics that had been gathered together for over 3
generations of successful Heguy breeders.
