2016 Rural Exhibition
This is a description of all the AACCP (Argentine
Association of Polo Pony Breeders) activities during the
130th. Exhibition of Livestock, Agriculture and International
Industry which included Grand Champions; Awards;
Educational Talks and Auctions at the Sales Room.
As from Saturday 16th. to Sunday 31 st of July 2016, de
premises of “La Rural”, in Palermo, welcomed thousands
of visitors to a new edition of the most important exhibition
in the country. This edition was not just one more, since
it was to commemorate the 150th. anniversary of the
creation of the Argentine Rural Association (SRA) and
130 th of the show itself.
From Sunday 24 th of July on, Polo Argentino Breed ponies
entered the grounds in order to put a start to the admission
judging which would take place as from Monday 25 th . On
that day 87 Polo Argentino Breed ponies were presented
on the Central Arena of the Rural Exhibition.
After the judging on Tuesday and Wednesday to select
which ponies would qualify, it was the turn of the Grand
Champions awards in La Rural’s Central Arena, under the
close scrutiny of the public and Judges Gastón Laulhé,
Héctor Guerrero and Benjamín Araya. In that instance,
it was Malapata Smile that was chosen Male Grand
Champion. This offspring of Open Vermut and Chapa
Paola, of Malapata S.A. bloodstock, excelled on the arena
and took the prize. “It makes me very happy to receive this
prize. He is a son of Chapa Paola which was also granted
an award here at La Rural and was an excellent polo pony”,
said Horacio Heguy as he received his prize.
Meanwhile, the Male Reserve Grand Champion went
to Open Cheque, a son of Ellerstina Pícaro and Open
Chequera, property of Ellerstina S.A. After the prize-
giving, Gonzalo Pieres remarked: “We know that it is
always difficult to make it at La Rural, and although we
didn’t win, to be able to win this prize is a great joy for all the
work team that make up Ellerstina. Open Cheque is a son
of Open Chequera, a horse that has won several prizes in
latter years and through whose veins even La Luna’s blood
can be traced.”
The Central Arena was preparing to receive the females that
had reached the stage of definition and where LolaF100 was
awarded the Female Grand Champion horse blanket. This
daughter of Gin Zorzal Cantor and La Uno was chosen by
the judges, and belongs to José María López’s bloodstock.
Her breeder remarked: “This is a time of great happiness.
