how important the female genetic bloodlines are,
and I am a fan of that. And that is the case of this
pony, Vasca Harrods; she shares this same prize
with her grand dam at the Palermo Open.”
What do you consider to be outstanding about
Vasca Harrods?
She has characteristics that are difficult to find all in
one; these being power and sensitivity; she has great
staying power and moves very close to the ground.
She is also brave, because she is powerful in ride-
offs and holds her balance very well. Whenever I’ve
played her in an Open, I’ve done so as back, shoo-
ting penalties, that is why I offered her to Juan Mar-
tín, because he plays in the same position as I do, at
another speed and different rhythm, which was why
it was fun to watch from the stands to see what this
mare did for Juan Martín, because she would never
have been able to do those things with me… not
through any fault of hers, only mine… (laughter).

What do you think a player like Juan Martín
Nero contributes towards this mare?
The fire and power he invests; the will-power and
mobility he displays during the game. The fact that
he should stand out in that team is, in itself, very
difficult, because of the level of his team mates and
of their breeds as well as those of their opponents,
and therefore much more commendable. Juanma
gave her that mobility and that speed during the
final which showed off just the kind of mare she is.
As a breeder, what does being granted the
AACCP horse-blanket mean to you?
It’s a huge satisfaction and an honor. I am very
proud to have received it, as also my family, and all
the people who work not only here in the stables,
but also in Intendente Alvear, where the horse is
prepared; where it took its first steps; where it was
broken-in and bred.
It was not only a satisfaction for me, it was a festive
occasion for the whole organization, because to us
an award is very important, and it is wonderful to be
able to receive it at this stage in which it is unlikely
that horses will win many prizes under me, and to
